Autism iHelp-Comparatives and Superlatives is an app designed to help with vocabulary development of adjectives through comparisons. Comparatives compare two items using the –er ending and superlatives compare three items using the –est ending. The app teaches the understanding of the adjectives of big/small, tall/short, and heavy/light.
There are two games to play for each concept and two games to play with concepts mixed together. In the first set of games two or three pictures are presented with a question asked using –er or –est ending. The user must touch the correct picture. In the second set of games, boxes are presented. A set of two or three photographs is presented under the boxes. The user must move the picture into the box with the correct concept. Audio instructions can be turned on so the child does not need to read be able to complete the activity. Sounds and verbal prompts let the child know if he completed the activity correctly. A progress report is kept that averages the last three performances of each activity.
